South Burnett food and tourism businesses will be eager to welcome back visitors once COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

At the moment, there is a 150km travel radius allowed for non-essential travel which means the South Burnett’s main tourism markets are still outside legal limits.

And there is a limit of 10 people in a cafe or restaurant at the same time, which means some local attractions have decided to remain closed for the time being.

However, to get a headstart on promoting some of what the South Burnett will offer returning visitors, food ambassador Jason Ford joined with videographer Tina Torrens at the weekend to release a short 10-minute film (see below) highlighting some local produce.

The video, shot late last year, was released on social media to coincide with Tourism Australia’s “Live From Aus” program of virtual events on Facebook.

It showcases The Little Butcher, Estelle’s Free Range Eggs, Taste of Tingoora and the South Burnett Visitor Information Centre in Kingaroy.

The video also includes Jason making his popular Eye Fillet with Cheesy Fried Egg dish.

  1. Congratulations Jason & Tina. Hope when restrictions are lifted, the South Burnett enjoys plenty of visitors to sample our fresh home grown ingredients.

  2. Cheers Michelle. The hope is that as restrictions are gradually lifted, tourists will rediscover the domestic (and safe) tourism attractions/destination in their own backyard. Travellers who live on the East Coast etc may choose to avoid cruise liners and what-not for a little while and take the safer option of spending a week in the South Burnett.
