RACQ LifeFlight Rescue has used state-of-the-art night vision goggles to complete the rescue of a 12-year-old boy who broke his leg during a trail bike accident on Sunday night.

The crew of the Toowoomba-based LifeFlight helicopter used the goggles to navigate their landing in a paddock about 2km from the family’s private property near Cooyar.

Local landowners also helped, driving their utes to the paddock to help light up the landing for the aeromedical crew.

The local response team at Cooyar and Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were first on the scene to assist.

They were followed by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, which touched down just after 6:00pm.

The young boy was transported in a stable condition, accompanied by his mother, to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.
