Police detected just eight offences at this year’s Burrandowan Picnic Races – and while it’s not a perfect score, they say they’re happy with general crowd behaviour at the event.

Over the Mother’s Day weekend, police from the Dalby Burnett Patrol Group and Dalby Road Policing took part in Operation Papa Blueberry.

The aim was to provide a police presence at the Burrandowan Picnic Races to deter and detect liquor, traffic and good order offences.

Police said that overall, the crowd of about 3000 people – both campers or day trippers – were well behaved and happy to engage in positive discussions on course with police officers.

At the conclusion of the operation, police had conducted 194 RBTs with two people receiving a Notice to Appear for returning a positive test.

One Notice to Appear was also issued for wilful exposure, and two Enforcement Notices were issued for wilful exposure and public urination.

A further three Traffic Enforcement Notices were issued for speeding offences.
