A lightning strike from the dry storm that passed over Kingaroy early on Tuesday evening has been blamed for starting a grass fire at Booie.

A caller to southburnett.com.au said they saw the lightning flash and then only moments later saw smoke start to rise.

The couple called Triple 0 and firefighters were quickly on the scene.

Kingaroy urban firefighters as well as at least one rural unit attended.

The fire was burning on a farm adjacent to Millers Road (opposite the former Captains Paddock cellardoor).
