Toowoomba Tigers just held on to defeat the South Burnett Saints in a gripping Darling Downs AFL contest played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday.

The two sides were evenly matched, with the Saints just one point ahead at the first change: 5.3 (33) to 5.2 (32).

At half-time, the Tigers had drawn ahead by a goal but there was still nothing in it: 9.6 (60) to 8.6 (54).

During the third quarter, the Saints cut back the Tigers’ six point lead to just two points going into the final term.

But sadly for the home crowd, when the full-time siren blew, the Tigers were still ahead after an exciting game of Australian Rules.

The final score was Toowoomba Tigers 15.14 (104) to South Burnett Saints 13.17 (95).

Saints’ goals were kicked by Ty Snow (5), Carl Stevenson (4), Adam Bowater (2), Dylan Bowater and Jordan Pressnell.

The South Burnett side is still holding down fourth spot on the competition ladder.
