A small but vibrant crowd was at the Kingaroy Art Gallery on Friday night for the official opening of the annual RADF Showcase Exhibition.

The exhibition features artworks produced by groups who have received Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grants during the past 12 months.

The May exhibition features:

  • Works produced during the Bunya Mountains Art Experience – a four-day painting workshop at the Bunya Mountains with expert tutor Don Milner earlier this year; and …
  • Works produced by members of the Jumping Ant Arts Group (JAAG), which brought the Wide Bay Potters Convention to Kingaroy last October; JAAG have since run several community pottery workshops to pass on the skills members learned at this event to the rest of the community

Thirteen participants in the Bunya Mountains Art Experience have 40 artworks on show in the Gallery which were created during their workshop. The majority of these are paintings in oils, watercolours or acrylics.

Jumping Ant Arts members have a range of works on show, including sculptures, dichroic glass works and paintings on clay.

The works have been produced by nine artists over the past six months, and range from small pieces to very large clay busts.

This month, the Kingaroy Gallery is also featuring an exhibition of woodworks produced by the South Burnett Woodcrafters, along with a selection of landscape paintings from the South Burnett Regional Council’s permanent collection.

  • The RADF Showcase Exhibition will remain on display at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 4:30pm weekdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on weekends until the end of the month. Admission to view it is free.
