The first round of the 2014 South Burnett Tri-Nations Shield darts competition attracted 24 competitors from three local clubs to the South Burnett Darts Association’s clubhouse in Kingaroy on Sunday.

This is the second year the Tri-Nations Shield has been held.

This year it is between the South Burnett, Kingaroy and Nanango darts clubs who have each sent along their best eight players to compete.

They are playing doubles and singles and are competing for a perpetual shield.

Round 1 was played at the South Burnett club’s shed in the Kingaroy Industrial Estate.

South Burnett took out the 2013 competition.

Round 2 will be played at the Nanango Darts Club on May 4; and the final round will get underway at the Kingaroy Darts Club’s HQ in the Trades Hall at the Kingaroy Showgrounds on July 6.

The Nanango team was captained by Dwayne Le Strange, one of the most experienced darts players in the South Burnett … Dwayne was selected for the Queensland squad in 2011
