Nanango State School Principal Lyal Giles is one of three representatives from the Nanango Electorate who took part in the State Government’s Queensland Plan summit today at Mackay.

All State MPs were invited to bring three constituents with them to the summit, which is the start of a process to formulate a guiding strategy for Queensland for the next 30 years.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington invited local residents to apply to attend the summit with her.

Community members interested in being involved met with her in mid-April in Kingaroy.

From this meeting, three residents were selected to attend the summit.

The other residents who attended from the Nanango electorate were Bowenville agriculturalist (and director of the Wonga Plains Feedlot) Bryce Camm, and former State MP for Aspley Beryce Nelson who is now  vice-president of the Somerset Arts Society and co-ordinator of the Toogoolawah Cultural Precinct Project and Esk Hospital Auxiliary.

Also in attendance was South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann and Cr Kathy Duff.

“The Queensland Plan is a collaborative process involving community member, business and industry representatives and all levels of government,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“The Plan will outline our shared vision for the next 30 years and identify local and state-wide priorities. It will not be a government vision, but rather it will be a Queensland vision.”

Following the Mackay Summit, community representatives will continue to meet to help formulate the Plan.

A report back meeting for the Nanango Electorate will be held in Yarraman next Friday to discuss what happened in Mackay.

This meeting will be held at Kitty Cook House in Emmert Street.
