The Nanango business community has rallied around a local teenage girl who has suffered complications from a rare form of epilepsy.

Brittany Scott, 17, has been in hospital in Brisbane since October.

She arrived back in Nanango today but needs ongoing occupational therapy as well as rehabilitation equipment, including an exercise bike, home gym and physio equipment. Her home will also require some special modifications.

Nanango Foodworks manager Marnie Ringe said Brittany’s twin brother Corey worked at the store, so Brittany felt like part of the family.

Nanango Foodworks – in conjunction with the Gas Guzzlers car club – organised a “gold coin donation” sausage sizzle outside the store today to help raise funds.

There are also collection buckets inside the store.

Tickets for a Christmas raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses, are also being sold in a number of local shops. This raffle will be drawn on December 21.

Nanango Trading Co-Op Manager Phil Stern presented a cheque from the initial fund-raising to Britanny’s parents Owen and Cherie Scott this afternoon.

Anyone who would like to assist Brittany should contact Foodworks Nanango on (07) 4163-1504.
