Women aged 50 to 69 years in the Nanango area are being urged to take advantage of free breast cancer screening services when BreastScreen Queensland’s state-of-the-art digital mobile service visits Nanango Hospital later this year.

The mobile service will be at the hospital from September 17 to November (the closing date will depend on bookings).

BreastScreen Queensland Health Promotion Officer Jessica Hobbs said it was essential women looked after their health and had a regular breast screen.

“Breast cancer is still the most common cancer affecting Queensland women,” she said.

“Early detection could save your life. All women aged between 50 and 69 years are strongly encouraged to have a free breast screen every two years. All women over the age of 40 are also eligible to attend.

“Women in the target age groups in the Nanango area should take the opportunity provided by the visit of the mobile service to their area to have a breast screen done.”

A doctor’s referral is not required to attend the mobile screening service.
