Farmers Big Day Out - Wondai
South Burnett Regional Council, in conjunction with AgForce, BIEDO and RHealth, is hosting a free Big Day Out for the local farming community at Wondai Showgrounds from noon to 7:00pm today. There'll be a free lunch plus a concert by Brendon Walmsley and heaps of attractions including dog jumping, chainsaw ripping and sculpting, whip cracking and a mechanical bull. There'll also be children's activities. For more information, contact Council on (07) 4189-9100.
26th Annual Kumbia Brain Drain
Yes! It's on again and more mind-snapping than ever! The 26th Annual Kumbia Brain Drain will be held at Kumbia Hall on the Bunya Highway in Kumbia from 6:00pm until late this evening. The event - which is the major annual fundraiser for Kumbia State School P&C - is a trivia-style tournament where teams of 6 compete for great cash prizes. Guests at this year's Brain Drain are encouraged to dress to the theme "Game Of Crowns" to be in the running for great prizes for the best-dressed team and best team name. There'll also be cash prizes for round winners and overall winners, along with the usual fun-filled audience participation games and raffles. Snacks, tea and coffee will be provided, and a cash bar will be operating this year as well if you have a righteous thirst that needs specialised attention (so no BYO). Admission is $120 per table of six, players must be aged 15 years and over, and a maximum of 35 teams can take part. There'll also be a bus running from Kingaroy to Kumbia, but you'll need to book to reserve a place. More details? Phone James on 0409-598-179. Note: The Brain Drain is usually sold out, but any tickets still available can be booked online.

There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters.
