Blackbutt History Morning
The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association will be holding a History Morning at Nukku Nook opposite the skate park in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 9:30am to around 12:00 noon today. This month's guest speaker will be Bob Brock, who'll be sharing anecdotes from his life and his father's life in the Timbertowns. Colours Of Yarraman Movie Night
A free movie “Wonder Park” (rated PG) will be shown at 6:00pm tonight in the Yarraman P-9 school hall in John Street to help kick off this year's annual Colours of Yarraman festival. This P&C supported event is expected to finish by 8:15pm, and children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and everyone is welcome.
Be Prepared For The Big One - Maidenwell
With this year's bush fire season looking like it could be particularly bad, the Maidenwell Rural Bush Fire Brigade will be holding a free "Be Prepared For The Big One!" information evening at Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street, Maidenwell from 6:00pm tonight (when things kick off with a free sausage sizzle) followed at 7:00pm with a presentation covering bush fire safety, action plans and care for animals. The workshop is primarily aimed at Maidenwell and Bunya Mountains residents, but everyone is welcome!
SBRC 2019 Listening Tour - Wondai and Murgon
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding the eighth and ninth of its 2019 Listening Tour meetings at Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai at 12:30pm today (for a 1:00pm start); and again at Murgon Town Hall in Gore Street, Murgon at 5:30pm this evening (for a 6:00pm start). The tour aims to inform residents about Council's operations and directly address any concerns they might have. A light afternoon tea or supper will also be provided and all residents are welcome, whether they're ratepayers or not. One final meeting will be held at the Bunya Mountains on October 21.
Kingaroy RSL Bingo
Bingo games will be running at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help local good causes. Everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Inamojo - Kingaroy
As part of Mental Health Week, two free "sample" sessions of Inamojo are being held in Kingaroy. Inamojo is a playful program designed to aid children's well-being involving music, art, meditation and stories. A full nine-week program is planned following these two sessions. (Dates to be advised). The first sample session was held on Wednesday. The second will be held from 3:30pm this afternoon at St Mary's Church Hall in Albert Street, Kingaroy. Cost is free. Mick Lindsay - Kingaroy
Entertainer Mick Linday will be performing at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to 11:00pm tonight as part of his current Australian tour. The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Spring Fair - Widgee
A Spring Fair will be held at the Widgee Memorial Hall on the Gympie Woolooga Road in Widgee from 9:00am to 3:30pm today. The Fair will feature lots of stalls, homemade goodies, gift ideas, crafts, bric-a-brac, plants, food and live music. There's plenty of free parking in the grounds, too, and no admission charge. Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
Kingaroy State High School's 19th annual student art exhibition will be officially opened at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm this evening. The exhibition includes more than 200 paintings, drawings, sketches and works in mixed media created by about 150 Year 7 to 12 students during this year's art classes. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Full Sircle - Nanango

Master Blasters - Kingaroy
The first session of an eight-week junior cricket Master Blasters program for young cricketers aged 7 to 11 will be run at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (next to Beangrowers) from 6:30pm to 8:00pm tonight. The program - for both boys and girls - is a super fun, social, safe, cricket program that is much shorter than traditional cricket, with a maximum of 90 minutes playing time. It helps kids develop the skills they need to play real games of cricket, and it's inclusive of children with a disability too. Everyone gets a chance to bat, bowl and field, and all the equipment is supplied. Master Blaster fees are $99 for the full eight weeks (which also includes a Kingaroy Junior Cricket shirt) and can be paid at tonight's sign-up.

Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price to people facing financial difficulties.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
