Raising Hell in Maidenwell Car Show'n'Shine
- The Maidenwell Sportsgrounds will play host to live music, a Show'n'Shine featuring hot rods, street machines, pre-1975 customs and a vintage caravan show today. The day starts at 9:00am and will run into the evening. There'll be a pig-on-the-spit plus raffles, car games and other competitions. Cost for entry by the public is $2 - or $15 if you're entering your vehicle for display (which includes camping). This is the public day of the annual three-day Raising Hell in Maidenwell Independence Day camping weekend for hot rod enthusiasts. Nanango Country Markets
- The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Kingaroy Boxing Club Fight Night
- If you've been waiting for them to bring back the biff - perhaps even wearing a T-shirt that says so - you'll be pleased to know that someone out there must be listening! The Kingaroy Boxing Club wil be holding a Fight Night at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy this afternoon and evening as a fundraiser for local fire brigades. Sixteen top local fighters will be putting their skills to the test in the ring and in addition to action-packed bouts, the Boxing Club's raffle will be drawn on the night for some really great prizes too. Doors open at 1:00pm and the first fight gets underway at 3:30pm. Admission is just $8 for young people aged 5 to 17 and pensioners; $15 for adults or $35 for a family pass (2 adults plus 2 children). And under-5s can get in for free. Dance - Inverlaw Hall
- A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by a local band and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a big Lucky Door draw. Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
South Burnett Rugby League Triple Header - Wondai
- The 12th Round of the South Burnett Premier League will be played at the Wondai Sportsgrounds off the Bunya Highway in Wondai today. Today's games will kick off with an U18s match between Murgon and Eastern Suburbs at 11:00am and that will be followed by the first A-grade clash of the day between the Kingaroy Red Ants and the Nanango Stags at 12:15pm . This, in turn, will be followed by the Bluckbutt Timbertowners taking on the Murgon Mustangs at 1:45pm, and then the Cherbourg Hornets will play the Wondai Wolves at 3:15pm. Because of school holidays there won't be any junior games today - they'll all resume next Saturday - but spectators and supporters are very welcome to the U18s and A-grade matches, which promise to be another great day of footy.
Smooth & Groove - Kingaroy

South Burnett Soccer - Kingaroy and Murgon
- After a one week mid-season break last weekend for the school holidays, the 10th round of the Evolution Solar Soccer League will be played out in Kingaroy and Murgon today. In Kingaroy, the 2nd division Gunners will play the Nanango Panthers at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street at 2:00pm. They'll be followed by the Gunnettes playing Nanango in the Women's Division at 3:15pm; and then the 1st Division match between the two teams at 5:00pm. And in Murgon, Barambah 2nd Division will play Wests at 2:00pm at the Murgon soccer grounds, followed by the Women's Division match at 3:15pm and then the 1st Division clash at 5:00pm. There won't be any junior matches this weekend because of school holidays, but they'll resume next Saturday at the Kingaroy soccer grounds. Spectators and supporters are most welcome!
What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
- The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. Saturday Rugby Union - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Thrashers will be playing their third home game for this season at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 12:00 noon today. The Thrashers have had a fairly undistinguished season so far this year, but they may be on an upswing after last week's near-win over the Condamine Cods. This week they'll be playing against the University Of Queenslands Highfields team - and spectators and supporters are vety welcome.
