Korea Day Commemoration - Nanango
2012 marks the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War and Nanango RSL will be marking the occasion with a Korea Day commemorative service at 11:00am this morning (assembly is at 10:45am). The service will be held at the Nanango War Memorial on the corner of Drayton and George Streets and all interested people are welcome to attend.
Treasure Island - Kingaroy
The Queensland Theatre Company will be presenting two performances of their production of "Treasure Island" - the Robert Louis Stevenson classic - at the Kingaroy High School Assembly Hall at 4:00pm and 7:00pm today (doors open 30 minutes before each show). The critically acllaimed stage show has been brought to the South Burnett under the State Government's ArTour programme and tickets are $10 a head. They'll be available at the door. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society Meeting - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society will be holding its latest monthly meeting for 2012 at the old Kingaroy Butter Factory Conference Room at the rear of Taste South Burnett at 67 William Street in Kingaroy from 6:30pm onwards this evening. The Wine Appreciation Society is open to anyone who'd like to learn more about wines and the $10 meeting fee covers wine tastings and nibbles. Everyone is welcome! More details? Karaoke Night - Wondai
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street in Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. Friday Night Dinner & Social Darts - Nanango
The Nanango and District Darts Association will be holding their regular Friday night social darts games at their club house at the end of George Street, Nanango from 7:15pm onwards this evening. They'll also be offering inexpensive home-cooked dinners from 6:30pm if you want to chow down beforehand. The club's licenced bar will be operating too, and both visitors and potential new members are very welcome.
Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Mayor's Community Breakfast - Kingaroy
South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will be holding a Mayor's Community Breakfast at Accents Restaurant at 30 Alford Street, Kingaroy (opposite Shoppingworld) from 6:45am to 8:15am this morning as a fundraiser for the South Burnett Private Hospital. For $30 per head, guests can enjoy a full breakfast and talks by guest speakers Dr Sanjay Joshi ("Better Health in the South Burnett"); Carl Rackemann OAM ("Politics and sport - do they mix?") and Mayor Wayne Kratzmann. To assist with catering, though, you'll need to RSVP to Bronwyn Barry on (07) 4189-9155 by Tuesday 24th July.
Informal Country Music Jam - Nanango
The Country Music Friends will be holding their regular Friday night informal music jam at the Wesleyan Church in Cairns Street, Nanango at 6:30pm this evening. New players are very welcome and you can obtain more details by phoning (07) 4163-2469
Annual Flair Concert - Kingaroy
Kingaroy State High School's annual Flair Concert will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon St, Kingaroy from 6:30pm this evening (show starts at 7:00pm). Tonight's concert will feature comedy skits, dances and musical numbers perfomed by KSHS staff and students. Tickets are $4 for singles or $12 for a family of four, and they'll be available at the door. There'll also be refreshments, raffles and a cent auction during interval, and all proceeds will go to aid the school's chaplaincy programme. Everyone's welcome!
Rock Against Work - Kingaroy
The Commercial Hotel at the corner of Haly and Glendon Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a "Rock Against Work" party tonight. Top South Burnett emcee DJdirex (now also heard on CROW-FM 90.7) will be spinning the platters. Entry is free if you get in before 9:00pm, otherwise a $5 late fee will apply. More details?
