South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Races
The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their second Wondai Race Day meeting for 2012 at the Wondai race track from around 12:00 noon today (the first race leaves the barriers at 1:30pm). The theme of today's meeting is "Bling, Buttons and Bows" and guests are encouraged to dress to this theme to be in the running for prizes. As usual, the meeting will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of Brisbane and interstate races (along with interstate betting fluctuations); a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar and a Punters Podium. There'll also be Lucky Race Book prizes of free betting vouchers; prizes for the best-dressed ladies and gents in a Fashions Of The Field competition; and amusements for children. Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Garden Tea Party - Nanango
Here's something different! A Garden Tea Party will be held at the Winds of Change Art Gallery at 8 George Street in Nanango from 11:00am to around 1:00pm today to celebrate the Gallery's first year of operations. Admission is by gold coin donation for non-members, and members should bring a plate. Everyone is welcome and morning tea will be provided - though an RSVP would be greatly appreciated to assist with catering. You can make one by phoning Julia on 4163-2763 by July 19th.
South Burnett Bull Tour - Murgon and Nanango
A South Burnett Bull Tour to help connect Droughtmaster bulls with potential buyers will be running in the region all this weekend. A bus will depart from Murgon at 5:50am and Nanango at 6:50am today and tomorrow to take buyers to a thirteen local Droughmaster studs where they can personally inspect more than 200 bulls that are currently available for sale, returning to each town in the evening. Overnight accommodation will be available in both towns (for non-South Burnett buyers) and a smoko and lunch will be provided on the tour, as well as a cookup at Magnum Stud today. Friendship Dance - Kingaroy
The monthly Friendship Dance will be held at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy (opposite Super IGA) at 7:30pm this evening, with music supplied by a local band. Honky Tonks Duo - Wondai

Kingaroy Primary Health Care Education Conference
The weekend-long Kingaroy Primary Health Care Education Conference will be held at the Kingaroy RSL today and tomorrow. Karaoke Night - Wondai
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street in Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. 2012 Relay For Life Launch - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2012 Relay For Life will be officially launched at O'Neill Square in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to 1:00pm today with a sausage sizzle, tea and coffee, face painting and live music. The official launch will see the announcement of the face of the 2012 Relay and the acknowledgement of 2012's patron Carl Rackemann. Relay For Life teams are encouraged to wear purple and can register at the Square this morning to take part in this year's event, which will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds on the 13th and 14th of October. Note: This launch was originally scheduled for last Saturday, July 15 but was postponed for a week due to rain.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
South Burnett Soccer - Kingaroy and Murgon
The 12th round of the Evolution Solar Soccer League will be played out in Kingaroy and Murgon today. In Kingaroy, 2nd division Gunners will play Wests at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street at 2:00pm. This will be followed by a clash between the womens' teams at 3:15pm, and then the 1st division match between Gunners and Wests at 5:00pm. And in Murgon, the 2nd division Nanango will play Barambah on the Murgon soccer grounds at 2:00pm. They'll be followed by the Women's Division at 3:15pm; and then the 1st Division match between the two teams at 5:00pm. Note: All today's junior soccer matches will be held in Nanango because the Kingaroy soccer grounds are still too wet to play on. Games will commence at 8:00am this morning for all junior divisions and continue on into the afternoon. Spectators and supporters are most welcome!
South Burnett Rugby League - Blackbutt, Kingaroy and Wondai
After last week's wash-outs, the 14th Round of the South Burnett Premier League will be played at the Blackbutt Sportsgrounds and TJ O'Neill Oval in Kingaroy today. In Blackbutt, the A-grade Blackbutt Timbertowners will play the Wondai Wolves at 1:30pm, and this will be followed by a clash between the Nanango Stags and Cherbourg Hornets at 3:00pm. And in Kingaroy, the U18s Murgon will play Wests at 1:30pm followed by Kingaroy v Hervey Bay at 2:45pm before the A-Grade clash of the day between the Kingaroy Red Ants and the Murgon Mustangs at 4:00pm. Meanwhile, there'll be a Mini Mod Carnival running all day at the Wondai Sportsgrounds for juniors - and you can obtain the complete match schedules on this page of our website.
What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together.
