South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Gem Show - Wondai
POSTPONED The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the second day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The event will feature unique crystal, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor stalls and lots of fun for the kids. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too. The Gem Show is always a great family day out and admission is just $5 for adults (under 12s are free). You can obtain more details by phoning 0491-606-427 or by visiting the club's website
Community Share - Tablelands
The Tablelands and Surrounding Areas Community Share is happening from 8:45am today at Kapernick Park, Crownthorpe Road, Tableland. Bring along pots, cuttings, plants, eggs, homemade chutney or whatever you have to share for free (and meet your neighbours!).
Offroad Outlaws Enduro - Proston
Today is the final day of the three-day Offroad Outlaws Enduro 4x4 event which will see some of Australia's top off-road buggy drivers test their skills on tracks near Proston. The event is being held on a private property on Melrose Pump Station Road (signs will be showing the way off Proston-Boondooma Road). There'll be food vendors on site, night events and spectator prizes. Single day spectator tickets are $51.30 for adults (over 16) or $25.80 for children (aged 5-16). Under 5s are free. There are also three-day passes (includes camping) available as well as family passes. Tickets can be booked online. Kumbia Campdraft
POSTPONED Today is the last day of the three-day Kumbia Campdraft which is being held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds, off Bell Street in Kumbia. Today's events include rounds of the Open Juvenile Draft and the Open Final. Admission to watch all the action is 100% free for spectators and a licensed bar will be running. Mates4Mates Golf Day - Murgon
RESCHEDULED from March 29 Murgon Golf Club will be holding a 9-hole 3-person Ambrose with a 1:00pm shotgun start today at the club's course on the Bunya Highway at Murgon. Cost is $25 per player, which include a complimentary BBQ lunch. There'll be prizes, novelty holes and a fancy dress prize. All funds raised will be donated to the ADF veterans' charity, Mates4Mates. Drawing Workshop & Demonstrations - Kingaroy
The "Nature's Therapy" artists - Colleen Helmore, Carmel Birchley and Maggie Spenceley - whose works are currently being exhibited at the Kingaroy Regional Gallery will be hosting a drawing workshop and demonstrations at the gallery (opposite the Peanut Silos in Haly Street) today. Colleen will be hosting a drawing workshop from 9:00am to 11:00am (cost $25); followed by free demonstrations by Carmel (scraperboard) and Maggie Spenceley (coloured pencils) from 11:30am-12:30pm. Linville Monthly Markets
The Linville Progress Association will be holding their monthly markets at Linville Community Hall from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets have a great BBQ breakfast and lots of fresh produce, home-made foods, crafts and bric-a-brac and run on the first Sunday of each month. CANCELLED The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Come & Try day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 11:00am today. Free Sunday Lunch - Kingaroy
A free community lunch is available every Sunday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at The Old Railway Station building, O'Neill Square, in Kingaroy. The Community Serving Community Meals Project is co-ordinated by the South Burnett Support Alliance and relies on volunteers from the local community.
