Rugby League - Cherbourg
Cherbourg's Jack O'Chin Oval will be hosting Round 1 of the 2025 South Burnett Rugby League competition plus the annual Frank Fisher Cup. Two Under 14s games will be played: at 10:00am, Kingaroy v Murgon; and at 11:00am, Cherbourg v Nanango. Then at noon, the first A Grade match will kick off, Kingaroy Red Ants v Wondai Wolves. This will be followed at 1:30pm by a special game between Queensland Police women and Bundaberg / Wide Bay women. At 3:00pm, the second A Grade game will begin between Murgon v Nanango followed at 5:15pm by Queensland Police v the Frank Fisher Indigenous side. It's going to be a big day of rugby league action!
Art Gallery Opening - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Art Gallery is featuring works by Carmel Birchley, Colleen Helmore and Maggie Spenceley this month in an exhibition entitled "Nature's Therapy". The official opening will be held from 5:00pm tonight at the gallery in Haly Street (opposite the peanut silos). Entry is free, light refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome! NB. There will be a workshop and demonstrations at the gallery tomorrow linked to this exhibition.
Wondai Crime Group Meeting
- Wondai residents concerned about break-ins and vehicle thefts in the town have organised another crime prevention meeting to be held from 2:00pm today at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street. Discussions will include the formation of a youth group in town.
The Mousetrap - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be putting on two performances today of their latest production, Agatha Christies' record-breaking whodunnit "The Mousetrap", at their theatre on the corner of Elk and George streets, Nanango. There'll be a matinee performance at 2:00pm followed by an evening show at 7:00pm. Tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for concessions, and they can booked booked online. Note: Three more performances - including another matinee - will also be held next week at the same venue.
Murgon RSL Sub-Branch Meeting

Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Ringsfield House Open Day - Nanango
- Historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango, is hosting an Open Day today! Local artists will be featured in the art gallery from 9:00am to 12:30pm, plus tea and scones will be available on the verandah for $10.00 per person from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Art Kids On Tour - Wondai
Brisbane's Queensland Gallery Of Modern Art will be running a Kids On Tour arts activity workshop for children at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, on the roundabout at Wondai, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm this afternoon. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
- The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Offroad Outlaws Enduro - Proston
Today is Day 2 of the three-day Offroad Outlaws Enduro 4x4 event which will see some of Australia's top off-road buggy drivers test their skills on tracks near Proston. The event is being held on a private property on Melrose Pump Station Road (signs will be showing the way off Proston-Boondooma Road). There'll be food vendors on site, night events and spectator prizes. Single day spectator tickets are $51.30 for adults (over 16) or $25.80 for children (aged 5-16). Under 5s are free. There are also three-day passes (includes camping) available as well as family passes. Tickets can be booked online. Kumbia Campdraft

Day 2 of the three-day Kumbia Campdraft will be held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds, off Bell Street in Kumbia. Today's events include rounds of the Combined Maiden and Maiden 4 Maiden, a Mini Draft and a Junior Draft; and the finals of Restricted Open and Maiden. Admission to watch all the action is 100% free for spectators and a licensed bar will be running. There's also free overnight camping in the Sportsgrounds all weekend if you want to stay over. Junior Motorcycle Speedway - Kingaroy
POSTPONED The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club (the "Junior Bees") is hosting a double header day (Club Day 1 & 2) on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (but use the Avoca Street entrance) with racing from around 10:00am through until early this afternoon. - POSTPONED Today is the final day of Hillview Cottages' two-night "road trip" through Australian country music at their venue at 297 Birt Road, Kingaroy. The fun on the Booie Range gets under way at 4:00pm and will run through to 9:00pm, with a camp oven dinner provided by The Baitlayers. Tonight's musicians are Amber Goldsmith, Queensland Musician of the Year winner Lindsay Waddington and three-times Golden Guitar winner Jeff Brown. South Burnett Gem Show - Wondai

The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the first day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to 4:00pm today. The event will feature unique crystal, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor stalls and lots of fun for the kids. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too.
