2025 Nanango Show

The second (and main) day of the 116th Annual Nanango Show will get underway at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 7:00am this morning with Prime Cattle judging followed at 8:00am with horse ring events and Stud Cattle judging from 8:30am. The main bar will open at noon. The sideshows and barrel racing in the main arena will all begin at 9:00am. The Bull Ride in the Len Bochmann Arena, will get jumping at 2:00pm. At 6:30pm, the finals of the day's trotting races will be run, and this will be followed by the Heritage Fireworks Display at 8:00pm, then live music by Mr Q from 8:15pm until late. Admission to today's show is $25 for adults, $15 for pensioners, $10 for high school students (with ID) or $50 for a family of four (two adults and two high school students). Primary school children and younger - accompanied by a paying adult - are free. Everyone is welcome!
Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The second day of the three-day 2025 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will get under way at 8:00am this morning with a working dog demonstration in the indoor arena at Kilkivan Showgrounds at 88 Mudlo Road. At 8:30am, there'll be briefings in the Muster area for riders taking part in the Wongella Ride. Back at the showgrounds, at 9:00am, the jumping castle opens for the kids with the Campdraft Bar opening for adults at 10:00am. There'll be various activities and demonstrations running from 9:00am to 3:00pm in the indoor and campdraft arenas at the showgrounds. The Kilkivan Street Markets will open at 10:00am in Lions Park. At 12:30pm, there'll be briefings in the Muster area for riders taking part in the Thomas Road Trail Ride. This year's Great Horse Ride Parade will occur along Bligh Street in Kilkivan's CBD from 4:00pm, and this will be followed back at the Showgrounds with mechanical bull rides, line dancing and a concert featuring the Tennessee Lights Band on the main stage from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. There'll also be a big-screen movie for the kids in the Campdraft Bar precinct from 7:00pm. Frozen Jr - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's youth theatre group will be presenting two performances of the musical Frozen Jr at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (in the grounds of Kingaroy State High School at the end of Markwell Street) today. The first performance is at 11:00am followed by an afternoon show at 4:00pm. Frozen Jr is adapted from the Broadway musical based on the hit Disney animated movie "Frozen". The Mousetrap - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be putting on the last two performances today of their latest production, Agatha Christies' record-breaking whodunnit "The Mousetrap", at their theatre on the corner of Elk and George streets, Nanango. There'll be a matinee performance at 2:00pm followed by an evening show at 7:00pm. Tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for concessions, and they can booked booked online.
Inverlaw Hall Dance
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Mystique and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a raffle. Kingaroy Speedway
The South Burnett Speedway will be back in action at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, tonight with its Autumn Extravaganza. On the program will be the Junior Sedans Queensland Title, Modlites, Super Sedans and Formula 500s. There'll be canteen facilities operating on site, and campsites are available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 4:00pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $30 for adults, $25 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $85 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Country Markets
The new Yarraman Country Markets will be on from 8:00am to noon this morning at Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman. The markets - which include a fruit and vege stall - are held on the second Saturday of every month. Phone Joe 0459-638-282 to book a stall.
Dave Lynch - Kingaroy

Entertainer Kane Vincent will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Hawaiian Pub Party - Kingaroy

Witness Statement - Nanango
Activist Wendy Hazelton has organised a screening of "Witness Statement" at the South Burnett Regional Council's Nanango Cultural Centre, in George Street, from 11:30am this morning (movie starts at 1:30pm). The film will attempt to persuade you that COVID-19 injections are "genetic bioweapons" and "the greatest crimes in Australia's history". Producer Debra Leigh will be on hand to talk about the film and collect cash donations to fund her next production.
Seafood Smorgasbord - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai will be holding another of their all-you-can-eat Seafood Smorgasbords from 6:00pm this evening (dinner starts at 6:30pm). The buffet features all your favourite hot and cold seafoods fresh from the trawlers, as well as non-seafood dishes, desserts, tea and coffee. Cost is $70 per head (BYO) and since these dinners are nearly always a sell-out, bookings are essential if you want to be certain of a seat: (07) 4168-5744. The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango, will be open from 8:30am to around noon today for its regular Saturday get-together.
