South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show Long Weekend
The South Burnett and Cherbourg On Show long weekend will be running across the region from Moffatdale to Blackbutt today. There are 26 different events happening today - everything from Open Days to long lunches at wineries and cafes to days out on farms, campdrafting, 4WD racing and free massed orchestra and choral concerts. There's literally something for everyone on offer (including lots of activities for families) and you can pick and choose your activities from the South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show Calendar (just click any hypelinked event for more details and a map). South Burnett Aviculture Society Meeting - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Aviculture Society - which focusses on the care and breeding of birds - will be holding their first Sunday of the month meeting at their club house inside the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm this afternoon. Winery Tours With Pizza
- Kingsley Grove Winery at 49 Stuart Valley Drive off the Bunya Highway south-west of Kingaroy will be running free winery tours between 10:00am and 5:00pm today (and also tomorrow and Monday) as part of this year's South Burnett and Cherbourg On Show long weekend festival. BP Dam Austackle Inland Family Fishing Classic
- The Austackle Inland Family Fishing Classic will get underway at Bjelke-Petersen Dam at 6:00am this morning when hundreds of keen fishermen wet their lines in Lake Barambah in a final effort to land one of three tagged fish worth a combined $3500 in prize-money. The competition will run until around 1:00pm this afternoon when there'll be final weigh-ins and prize-givings. Lunch In The Country Smorgasbord - Wondai
- Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai will be holding another of their popular Lunch In The Country Smorgasbords from 12:00pm to 2:00pm today. The buffett features a selection of hot dishes, roast meats, salads, as well as sweets and tea of coffee, and the cost is a modest $15.00 per person for a really great feed (BYO). Nanango October Darts Fest
The Nanango Darts Club at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango will be holding the second (and final) day of their annual two-day October Darts Fest today. Today's events will be the Ladies Singles and Men's Singles - both played as round robins. There'll be $1000 in prize monies on offer, and entry fees are $10 per event. Nominations can be made by phoning George on 0427-032-119 on or before September 28. Sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls and chips will be available on both days, along with a licensed bar, and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a breakfast available this morning.
Murgon State School Class of 1952-1964 Reunion
- A special reunion for the Murgon State School Classes of 1952-1964 will be held at Murgon State High School from 9:00am onwards this morning.
