South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
2014 Relay For Life Marathon - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's annual Relay For Life fun walk will be held on the main oval at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Steet, Kingaroy from 3:00pm this afternoon right through until 9:00am tomorrow morning. This year 43 teanms will be taking part in the all-night walk-a-thon in a bid to raise more than $100,000 for the Queensland Cancer Council. Spectators are very welcome to come along and cheer the walkers on as they march around the ring (abnd around... and around again...). The Relay's popular annual Candlelight Ceremony - held in remembrance of friends and relatives lost to cancer - will be run at about 6:30pm this evening. There'll also be food and drink stalls in the grounds if you get hungry or thirsty.
Eat Dirt Drought Evening - Murgon
A slide show evening about Murgon Baptist Church's 'Eat Dirt' Drought project will be presented today from 4:00pm at the Baptist Church Hall in Stephens Street East, Murgon. The evening will explain the 'Eat Dirt' Drought story and present photos and testimonials fr people involved in the project. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be on sale with all money raised going directly to 'Eat Dirt' Drought. RSVP to Lyn on (07) 4168-6285.
Colours Of Yarraman Festival
Yarraman's annual Colours Of Yarraman Festival will be held in Yarraman today and tomorrow. Today the Festival will kick off at the Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street at 12:00 noon with a regional bowls competition (nominations are essential). In the evening, Youth Connect have organised an outdoor movie night in Errol Munt Reserve for Yarraman’s younger residents, and “The Lego Movie” will begin screening at 7:00pm. Meanwhile, older residents can enjoy an evening of music, wine and nibbles which will get underway at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 7:30pm. Entry is $10, which includes a complimentary glass of wine, and the evening will feature the announcment of the winners of the Colours of Yarraman Art Competition, and also the H20 Small Business Awards. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's monthly Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls. Murgon Camera Club Meeting - Wondai
The Murgon Camera Club will be holding their regular monthly meeting at The Studio at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A-Grade T20 Cricket Competition - Murgon
The first round of the South Burnett's A Grade T20 cricket competition will be held at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon today. At 12:00 noon, Warriors will play Nanango on Field 1 while Services play Wondai on Field 2. This will be followed at 3:00pm by Murgon v Nanango (Field 1) and Warriors v Services (Field 2); and then at 6:00pm, Wandai will play Murgon under lights. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
B-Grade T20 Cricket Competition - Kingaroy
The first round of the South Burnett's B-Grade T20 cricket competition will be played at various locations around Kingaroy today. At 12:00 noon, Services will play Nanango at Taabinga State School; Diggers will play Kumbia at Lyle Vidler Oval; and Barambah will play Colts at Kingaoy State School. This will be followed at 3:00pm with Diggers playing Nanango at Taabinga State School; Warriors playing Colts at Lyle Vidler Oval; and Kumbia playing Barambah at Kingaroy State School. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
Ulysses Motor Cycle Club Meeting - Kingaroy
The Ulysses MC Burnett Branch (motto: "Grow old disgracefully") will be holding their regular 2nd Saturday of the month meeting at the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel at the corner of Haly Street and the Bunya Highway in Kingaroy from 9:00am this morning. Visitors and prospective new members are very welcome.
QCWA Young Girl's Craft Group - Kingaroy
The QCWA Young Girls' Craft Group will be holding their regular third Saturday of the month meeting at the QCWA Rooms in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy (just next to the RSL) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. The group is for young girls aged 10 years and older, who can learn useful crafts and home skills such as sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking, healthy eating, catering and presentation under the supervision of QCWA ladies and a supervisor. There's a small $2 charge each day to cover the cost of goods used, but all young girls are very welcome. Country Music Night - Hivesville
Some of the girls from the Gympie's Country Music School of Excellence will be coming to sing at the Hivesville Hotel from 6:00pm until late tonight to help them raise money to go to Tamworth next year. Apart from a great night of country music, there'll also be raffles and a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the girls too.
