Wondai Comedy Night
- Wheatlands State School P&C will be hosting a Comedy Night at the Wondai Memorial Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:00pm until late tonight as a fundraiser (show starts at 8:00pm). Professional comedian Nick Johns and fellow performers will be delivering a rib-tickling two hour show and there'll also be hot finger foods, a licensed bar and live music until late. Greet, Meet & Eat - Yarraman
- A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Phillips Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yarraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon. The Waterhole Rocks Festival - Nanango
The first day of the three-day Waterhole Rocks rock 'n' roll campout weekend will roar into life at the Nanango Showgrounds at 7:00pm this evening and continue on until late tonight. The festival is devoted to all things associated with 1950s and 1960s rock 'n' roll. This includes hot rods, custom cars, vintage caravans, driving games and dance lessons, all backed up by rock 'n' roll acts. At 7:00pm tonight the Festival will get underway with rock & roll band he Rocking Bodgies. A bar and canteen will be operating too and admission today is $20, or you can buy a full weekend pass for $25. Camping will also be available at the Showgrounds for $25 per person and then $8.50 per person per night if you want to bunk down on site. - The Nanango Readers & Writers Group will be holding a meeting at the Country Focus building at 41 Drayton Street, Nanango (opposite Nanango Library) at 9:30am this morning. The NRWG is an informal discussion group for anyone interested in reading and/or writing any form of literature or drama, and it meets on the first and third Fridays of each month. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
