Wondai Races Caulfield Cup Meeting
The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their annual Wondai Races Caulfield Cup Meeting meeting at the Wondai race track in Cadell Street, Wondai from around 12:00 noon today (the first race leaves the barriers around 1:30pm). The theme of today's meeting is "Colours Of Spring" and guests are encouraged to dress to this theme to be in the running for great prizes in the hotly-contested Fashions Of The Field competition. As usual, the meeting will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of Brisbane and interstate races (along with interstate betting fluctuations); a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar and a Punters Podium. The always popular Lady Luck Cocktail Bar will be in full swing too, along with the track's canteen. Buses will be leaving the Fitzroy Hotel in Nanango at noon, the Commercial Hotel in Kingaroy at 12:30pm, Proston’s Golden Spurs Hotel at 11:30am, the Hivesville Hotel at 11:45am and the Murgon Newsagency at 12:30pm (phone 0402-715-242 to guarantee a seat). Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Bill Hull Car Centre 30th Birthday Party
The Bill Hull Car Centre at the corner of Kingaroy and Avoca Srteets in Kingaroy will be holding a 30th Birthday Party from 8:30am onwards today to celebrate the company's 30th year of operations in the South Burnett. There'll be a jumping castle, balloons and fun activities for chilodren; a BBQ running all day with free food and drinks for all ages; special offers on new Mazdas and Suburbus; a live on-air broadcast from Hasmish from HOT-FM 89.1; and free prizes/show bags full of valuable acessories suitable for any type of car. Elgin Value Reunion
A reunion for former students and staff of Elgin Vale school will be held at the Elgin Vale CWA Rooms (ie the old school) from 9:30am to around 2:30pm today. The Waterhole Rocks Festival - Nanango
The second (and main) day of the three-day Waterhole Rocks rock 'n' roll campout weekend will get underway at the Nanango Showgrounds at 12:30pm this afternoon with entertainment from Jeff Hancox and the Stolzenberg Brothers, who'll perform until 6:30pm; and then Shazam from 7:30pm until late. During the day there'll also be grass driving and games on the main oval, and rock & roll dance lessons available in the main pavilion on the new dance floor purchased especially for this year's event. The festival is devoted to all things associated with 1950s and 1960s rock 'n' roll including hot rods, custom cars and vintage caravans. A bar and canteen will be operating all day and night too and admission today is $20, or you can buy a full weekend pass for $25. Camping will also be available at the Showgrounds for $25 per person and then $8.50 per person per night if you want to bunk down on site. Everyone is welcome, and the Festival will rock on right through until late Sunday afternoon. More details? Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Woodcrafters will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at their clubhouse, which is located behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street from 8:00am to around mid-day today. Lucas Oils Kingaroy Speedway
The South Burnett Speedway will be roaring back to life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 4:00pm this afternoon with the first meeting of their 2014-15 season. Tonight's meeting will feature Super Sedans racing in Round 2 of the Queensland Super Series, sponsored by QA Developments; and joining them in a packed card will be late models (a round of the Thunder Series), street stocks, production sedans and four-cylinders (J&M Racecraft Super Series). Admission prices are $25 for adults, $15 for students and pensioners (bring your ID) or $65 for a family pass (2 adults plus three students), but under-12s can get in for free. Tranquillity & Soul 3rd Birthday Street Party - Wondai
Tranquillity & Soul at 19 Scott Street in Wondai (just near the roundabout) will be holding a 3rd Birthday Street Party from 8:00am to 2:00pm today. There'll be free face painting and a free jumping castle for children; fairy floss and snow cones; and tie-dye workshops from 8:00am. Mickey and Minnie Mouse will also be paying a visit, and there'll be live music from Vashti Bruyn and Anna Astbury too. A-Grade T20 Cricket Competition -Kingaroy
The second round of the South Burnett's A Grade T20 cricket competition will be held at the various Kingaroy venues today. At 12:00 noon, Nanango will play Services at Lyle Vidler Oval, while Wondai will play Warriors at Kingaroy State School. This will be followed at 3:00pm by Nanango v Wondai at Lyle Vidler Oval, and Murgon v Services at Kingaroy State School; and then at 6:30pm, the final of the top two sides will be played at Lyle Vidler Oval under lights. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
B-Grade T20 Cricket Competition - Murgon
The second round of the South Burnett's B-Grade T20 cricket competition will be played at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon today. At 12:00 noon, Diggers will play Services on Field 1; Kumbia will play Warriors on Field 2; and Nanango will play Barambah on Field 3. Then at 3:00pm, Services will play Diggers on Field 1; Kumbia will play Nanango on Field 2; and Warriors will play Barambah on Field 3. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
Dance - Manumbar Hall
A dance will be held at Manumbar Hall from 8:00pm until late tonight. This will be an Old Time dance and music will be supplied by Mark's Music.
