South Burnett Motors In Motion Festival - Kingaroy
The fourth annual Motors In Motion Festival will be held at the Kingaroy Airport on the Goodger Road south of Kingaroy from 8:30am this morning through until around 4:00pm this afternoon. The Festival celebrates motors of all types - anything from vintage cars, motorcycles and farm machinery through to muscle cars, hotrods, ratrods and aeroplanes - and there'll be lots on display today for revheads and motoring enthusiasts to look at and (occasionally) even drool over. Great things to look out for this year include a V8 Tractor Pull, a Car Motorkhana Display, displays of Drift cars, old-style peanut and corn threshing and much more. There'll also be food and drink stalls, amusement rides and face painting for children; joy flights; a motorbike gymkhana; a Ping Pong Ball Drop; and many other entertainments for the whole family. World Wide Bay Wurst Off - Murgon
The annual Wurst Off - which sees local butchers pit their talents in a taste-off challenge to impress judges and the public - is on again from 6:30pm tonight. The venue for this year's competition is the Lutheran Church Hall in Murgon. Doors open at 7:00pm and entry is $20. The Wurst Off is a fundraiser for the Karate Union of Australia.
Fruit & Veggie Markets - Yarraman
Yarraman's monthly Fruit & Vegetable Markets will be running on the empty block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (opposite Bendigo Bank) from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. These new markets run on the 4th Saturday of each month and offer a wide range of fresh fruit and veggies, along with plant and craft stalls.
Gumnut Place Garage Sale - Murgon
Gumnut Place will be holding a big Garage Sale at 22 Gore Street in Murgon from 7:00am to 3:00pm today. There'll be a big variety of baked goods, household and electrical items on sale, and everyone is welcome.
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Dusty Day Out - Moffatdale
Dusty Hill Estate at 80 Waterview Drive in Moffatdale will be holding their fourth annual Dusty Day Out in their grounds today. This year's performers include funk, roots, rock and reggae outfit The Floating Bridges; blues, country and rock maestros Pop Standen & Guests; blues band Devil's Kiosk; party band Bad Habits; originals and covers artist Bob Mouat; and great local musician Rowan Edwards. Food and drink will be available from Dusty Hill's licensed tavern all day and night (strictly no BYO allowed) and free overnight camping is available in the grounds as well. There'll also be a courtesy bus running to local accommodation venues if you'd prefer a roof over your head. Spring Strings - Nanango
The South Burnett Community Orchestra String Ensemble will be performing a "Spring Strings" concert at historic Ringsfield House in Alfred Street, Nanango at 4:00pm this afternoon. Visitors should bring along a chair or blanket to enjoy the performance on Ringsfield's lawns. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for concessions or $20 for families, and wine and cheese will be available - wine for $5 per glass, and cheese platters for $10. St John's Simply Silver Trivia Night - Kingaroy
A "Simply Silver Trivia Night" will be held at St John's school hall in Ivy Street, Kingaroy from 6:30pm to around 11:00pm this evening as a fundraiser for the school. Tickets are $10 per head; play will take place in tables of 8; and you should BYO food and drinks - but there'll be plenty of raffle and lucky door prizes, and a great night is guaranteed. Kingaroy Double Jackpot Barrel Race
The National Barrel Horse Association will be holding the Kingaroy Double Jackpot Barrel Race from 10:00am onwards today at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy ($2 practice runs will occur at 8:00am and 9:30am). Today's event will feature a range of competitions including Open 4D, Junior 4D, Beginner Riders, 5-10 Led & 5-10 Ridden, Poles and a Feature Event where the winner will walk away with 50% of the entry fees. If you enjoy equestrian sports this should be a really great day of non-stop action. Today's competitions are an Area 2 NBHA event, so NBHA members can acquire area points by entering; but non-members can join for the day for just $10 and are very welcome to do so. Seafood Buffet - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street, Wondai will be holding another of their popular monthly all-you-can-eat Seafood Buffets from 6:30pm this evening (dinner starts at 7:00pm). The Buffets feature all your favourite fresh and cooked seafood, as well as non-seafood dishes, desserts, tea and coffee.
