2024 Wondai ShowThe main day of the two-day Wondai Show will run at the Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street, Wondai today. Gates will open at 6:30am for breakfast in the cattle section, and this will be followed by judging of horses, stud beef, dairy cattle and poultry which will get underway at 8:30am. The pavilions, sideshows and trade displays will open at 9:00am and out in the main ring, chainsaw racing will start at 9:30am along with judging for the Show & Shine exhibits, Truck Show and Ute Show hat will be running right through until noon along with a Tractor Pull, FMX Motorbikes and the start of an Australian Stock Horse Challenge at 11:00am. The Show's official opening will take place at 11:30am and this will be followed by the Grand Parade at 12:30pm. At 2:30pm, FMX Motor Bikes will give another show that will last until the pavilions close at 4:00pm, followed by Pavilion prize presentations; Barrel Racing at 6:00pm; and then a pulse-pounding Bull Ride at 7:00pm after which DJ Richter will provide live entertainment from 8:30pm until late. There'll also be lots of food stalls operating as well as two licensed bars, a BBQ and a sit down dining room. Admission to today's Show is just $15 for adults; $10 for pensioners and high school students; and $2 for primary school students (U5s are free).
Nanango Playfest
- The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the second day of their 3-day 2024 Heritage Nanango Playfest at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango. Tickets for today's sessions are just $10 per head or you can book a season pass for Friday, Saturday and Sunday for just $40. Tickets can be booked online but they'll also be available at the door tonight unless sold out. The winners of this year's Playfest will be announced on Sunday around 12:30pm.
Proston Men's Shed

Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
- The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening. Popular local musician Amos will be performing on the hotel's deck from 7:00pm to 11:00pm and guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy for $28 per head (chicken and beef options are available too) or $15 for U12s. Nanango Men's Shed
- The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Saturday get-together. Saturday Soccer - Wondai
- Football South Burnett will be running the 2024 Grand Final for U12sz/U13s and the Preliminary Final for cadets at the Wondai Soccer Fields off the Bunya Highway north of the Wondai Sportsgrounds today. The event will kick off with the U12s/U13s match between Gardengrove Landscape Supplies and Chinchilla Lynx at 8:30am, and this will be followed by the Cadets competition between the U14s Chinny Drop Bears and Barambah U14s at 10:30am. There's no admission, a canteen will be running in the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
- The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Livin' Live Festival - Nanango
- The Commercial Hotel at 69 Drayton Street in Nanango will be hosting their 2nd annual Livin' Live Music Festival from 4:00pm (when gates open) through until late tonight. The event will feature Rose Tattoo legend Angry Anderson along with a range of top-notch Aussie musicians playing together as the Filthy Animals, plus local artists Mr Q and Ryza. Guests should BYO chair, dancing shoes and singing voices to join in on well-known songs from Jimmy Barnes, INXS, Cold Chisel, AC/DC and many other Aussie classics that will be played during the night. Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Music On The Church Porch - Murgon
- South Burnett singer Louise Winton will be presenting Music On The Church Porch at the old church at 31 Taylor Street East in Murgon at 11:00am this morning. This is a free concert (though donations for the singer and her musicians are welcome) and guests are encouraged to BYO picnic lunch or pick up some tucker from the Murgon Men's Shed BBQ which will also be running there today. Yarraman Men's Shed

Sawdust In Our Veins - Blackbutt
- The Roy Emerson Museum will be hosting a "Sawdust In Our Veins" fundraising night for the Blackbutt Timber Museum project at the Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 6:00pm until late this evening. Guests at this fun event can get to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and nibbles, followed by a fully licensed dinner emceed by Spud Jones, auctions, lucky doors and other prize giveaways. There'll also be comedy from Glen Jones and live music from the Eleven Dollar Bills and 4 Hits & A Miss to dance the night away. Burrandowan Campdraft
- The first day of the annual, two day Burrandowan Campdraft will be held at the Chahpingah Reserve on Burra Burri Road about 60km south-west of Kingaroy from early this morning until around sunset. Today's action will focus on traditional campdrafting events, which will be followed by a bullock ride tonight. The event is a fundraiser for the Burrandowan Picnic Races in May. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Play Music On Nature's Porch Day - Bunya Mountains
- South Burnett musicians will be marking "Play Music On Nature's Porch Day" with a free concert at Dandabah Day User Area in the Bunya Mountains (near the hand statue) from 10:00am to around 3:00pm today. The Nanango Shedders will be this year's featured act, but other musicians are very welcome to drop in and take part as well. A sausage sizzle and drinks stall will be operating on site and there's no admission. Everyone is welcome!
QCWA Handcraft OPen Day - Murgon
- Murgon QCWA members will be running their annual Handcraft Open Day at their rooms at 81 Macalister Street in Murgon from 9:30am to 2:00pm today. In addition to a great display of brilliant craft works, there'll also be Devonshire Teas available for $5 per person, and South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff will be opening the event at 10:00am with a selfie. Yarraman Markets
- The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls and a coffee van.
