Pyjama Party Dance Night - Inverlaw Hall
- A Pyjama Party Dance Night will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Guests are encouraged to wear their best PJ's, music will be supplied by Chattanooga and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a Lucky Door draw and a raffle. Blackbutt Community Expo
- The Blackbutt District Community Organisation is inviting residents - especially newcomers to the region - to come along to the Blackbutt Community Expo which will be held today at the Memorial Hall in Bowman Road. Activities will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and there will be representatives from local community groups on hand to share information about sports, hobbies, arts and crafts, music, wildlife care, gardening and service clubs. All up, there will be at least 26 groups sharing what they are doing in the district, and encouraging local residents to get involved in organisations that may interest them. Entry is free and there will be lucky door prizes donated by many of the groups.
Wooroolin Community Markets
- The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Yarraman Markets
- The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls and a coffee van. Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Camp Oven Dinner - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Observatory at Kingaroy Airport will be celebrating its 20th anniversary tonight with a Camp Oven Dinner under the stars from 6:00pm to 10:00pm tonight. Guests will be treated to hot soup, fresh damper, two types of stews and a hot dessert, along with a laser-guided tour of the galaxy by astronomer James Barclay and viewings through the observatory's telescopes. Moffatdale Ridge Wines will also be available for purchase. Bookings need to be made by July 26 and you can secure seats by phoning 0427-961-391.
Heritage Museum Open Day - Wondai
- The Wondai Heritage Museum in Mackenzie Street, Wondai (opposite the Town Hall) will be holding its annual Open Day from 9:00am to 1:00pm this morning. Apart from amazing displays outlining the town's early history, there'll also be a sausage sizzle, coffee van and multiple stalls featuring local crafts and produce on site. Everyone is welcome.
Back To Basics Music Muster - Proston
- The fourth day of the five day Back To Basics Music Muster will be held at 1385 Proston-Boondooma Road (13km west of Proston) today. The Muster will feature performances from Rob Breese, Reece Blinman, The Cartwheels, Brian Letton, Dean Perrett, Dianne Coombs, Lachlan Jacques, Brian Howard and Alice Benfer plus extra guest artists, walk-up acts and bush poetry. There's free camping onsite and toilets (but no showers) and open fires are allowed. Coffee and food vendors will also be onsite, but guests should BYO seating and liquid refreshments. Tickets to the Muster are $40 per head per day or $95 for a five-day pass but must be booked in advance. Tickets can ordered by phoning the organisers direct on 0412-884-482 or on the Muster website.
Kroozy Tunes - Linville
- The Kroozy Tunes Duo will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until late tonight. Proston Khanacross Round 3
- The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding the third round of their weekend-long Proston Khanacross at their race track today (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence at 10:00am this morning and wrap up towards nightfall, when there'll also be some spectacular burnouts. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club available early tomorrow morning. Saturday Rugby League - Cherbourg
- Rugby League fans should head to Jack O'Chin Oval in Broadway Street, Cherbourg today for a slew of semi-final matches as the local competition nears the end of the season. At 10:30am, the U14 Minor Semi-Final will be played between the Chinchilla Bulldogs and Murgon Mustangs. This will be followed at 12:00 noon with the U14 Major Semi-Final between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Cherbourg Hornets. After this - at 1:30pm - the U15 South Burnett Eagles will play against Maryborough's Brothers; and at 2:45pm, the U17s South Burnett Eagles will go into battle against the Valleys Roosters. This will be followed with the A-grade Minor Semi-Final between Kingaroy's Red ASnts and Murgon's Mustangs at 4:15pm. And at 6:00pm, the day's action will be capped off by the A-grade Major Semi-Final between Cherbourg's Hornets and Nanango's Stags. A canteen will be running in the grounds and spectators are very welcome to come cheer their favourite teams on.
