South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Queensland Police Remembrance Day Service - Kumbia
- A service to remember fallen Queensland police officers will be held at the Kumbia Anglican Church at the corner of Brook Road and Gordon Street in Kumbia at 3:00pm this afternoon. The service is one of a number that will be held throughout the North Coast Police District today to pay tribute to the 139 police officers who have lost their lives in the course of duty. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and blue ribbons are available from local police stations for a small donation (the proceeds will assist Queensland Police Legacy and Community Supporting Police).
South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society Meeting - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society will be holding its latest monthly meeting for 2012 at the old Kingaroy Butter Factory Conference Room at the rear of Taste South Burnett at 67 William Street in Kingaroy from 6:30pm onwards this evening. The Wine Appreciation Society is open to anyone who'd like to learn more about wines and the $10 meeting fee covers wine tastings and nibbles. Tonight's meeting will focus on Sparkling Bruts with one from Spain, two from France and one from Western Australia going under everyone's palate and should be a lot of fun (WAS meetings usually are). - The Big Scrub Garden Club will be holding a meeting at Kay Schultz's garden in Kingaroy from 10:00am onwards this morning. The club meets on the last Friday of each month but the venue changes from one month to the next. New members are always welcome! - The Fitzroy Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango will be holding a Pool Competition at 8:00pm tonight. There are 32 places available with a $5 buy-in fee, and a $200 first prize for the winner (as well as lesser prizes for the two runners-up). Everyone is welcome. School Holiday Entertainment - Kingaroy
- Kingaroy Shoppingworld will be providing free school holiday entertainment at Shop 28A (next to Big W) at 10:00am and 1:00pm today. Shoppingworld will be running Crazy Candles workshops, which show school children how to make their own brightly-coloured candles.
Rock Trivia Night - Yarraman
- The Royal Hotel in Yarraman will be holding a Rock Trivia Night (modeled on the popular TV show Rockwiz) from 7:00pm until late this evening as a fundraiser for juvenile diabetes. Therte'll also be musicians from the South Burnett and Brisbane performing. Entry is by gold coin donation and everyone is welcome.
