South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Tractor Tattoo - Kingaroy
Today is the main day of the month-long Tractor Tattoo celebration in the South Burnett. Tractor Tattoo will be held at the South Burnett Regional Council's Glendon Street forecourt from 4:00pm until around 8:00pm this evening. The event will kick off with exhibitions, entertainment and children's activities which will continue through until 6:00pm when a wide range of local performers will take to the stage (including the Blackbutt Singers, Caedonian Pipe Band, various bands from Kingaroy State High School, the Murgon State School Band, Nanango Theatre Company, Sing Australia, South Burnett Chorale, Susan Dowdle School Of Dance, Wondai & District Band and Wondai State School Band). They'll be followed at 7:00pm with "The Gathering Of The Tractors" - a display of 50 tractor cut-outs prepared by community groups from Benarkin to Windera for the Festival, along with the announcement of prize-winners. And then there'll be the unveiling of the Festival's centrepiece - a musical tractor - and the performance of a specially-commissioned work on it. In the adjoining Kingaroy Library there'll also be a range of events going on including a "Day In The Life Of A Tractor" workshop (to create a piece of artwork for the library); a photographic exhibition by the Murgon Camera Club; and a Kingaroy State High School Literature Showcase. Colours Of Yarraman Festival
The second day of the 2nd annual Colours Of Yarraman Festival will be held at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street and the Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street, Yarraman today. The Bowls Club will be kicking off the first three rounds of a Calcutta Colours Of Yarraman Open Fours competition at 8:00am which will run through until late this afternoon. This will be followed in the evening with a dinner at the club house and live entertainment by Sharry which will get underway at 6:00pm. At the Yarraman Community Hall, meanwhile, this year's Art and Photography Exhibition will be on display to the public from 10:00am to 5:00pm for a gold coin donation entry. This will be followed at 6:00pm by a wine and cheese opening and then a Dinner-Dance at 7:00pm with entertainment from Blackbutt's talented Sempf family, and then the formal announcement of this year's Art and Photography Competition winners at 9:00pm. Tickets to this dinner are $35 per head and they can be obtained from the Bendigo Community Bank at 23 Toomey Street. Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Rally - Kumbia
The annual two-day Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Rally will be held at the Kumbia Sports Grounds on the Bunya Highway at Kumbia between 9:00am and 4:30pm today. The rally attracts vintage machinery enthusiasts from all over South East Queensland and there'll be a huge range of antique machinery on display including cars, tractors, trucks, crawlers and stationery engines. Other highlights include a grand parade, slow tractor races, sled pulling, ploughing, ring events and vintage chainsaw demonstrations and much, much more!. If you're hungry, there'll be a barbecue, food and drink stalls operaing all day too. Exhibitors from other clubs are also very welcome, but you'll need to arrange your own public liability insurance, which will be sighted on arrival. More details? South Burnett Rugby League Grand Finals
The 2012 Grand Finals of the South Burnett rugby league competition will be held at Nanango RLFC's grounds off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango's CBD today. The U8s match between Nanango and Kingaroy will start the day at 8:00am and will be followed by the U10s match between Nanango and Blackbutt at 8:40am. The U12s decider between the Murgon Mustangs and Kingaroy Red Ants will be played at 9:30am. This will be followed by the U14s grand final between the Nanango Stags and Central Burnett Brumbies at 11:00am; and then the U16s tussle between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Central Burnett Brumbies at 12:30pm. There'll also be an U18s cup match between Kingaroy and Murgon at 2:00pm. And after this, the day will be capped off with the biggest match of all: the A-grade Premier League Grand Final between the Cherbourg Hornets and the Kingaroy Red Ants at 3:30pm (which promises to be a very good match indeed). Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Softball Have A Go Day - Nanango
A Softball "Have A Go" Day will be held at the Nanango Sporting Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 1:00pm today to let potential new players get a feel for this fun, fast-paced sport. The event is open to all ages and ability levels and in addition to softball games there'll also be a free sausage sizzle, face painting for young children and a jumping castle too. Endeavour Foundation Biggest Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding a special Biggest Bingo at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 1:30pm this afternoon. There'll be 4 Jackpots in 90 calls, with the biggest jackpot a cool $1000.00. And there'll be lots of raffles too. Everyone is welcome!
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy

What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. Friendship Dance - Kingaroy
The monthly Friendship Dance will be held at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy (opposite Super IGA) at 7:30pm this evening, with music supplied by a local band. The work that will be undertaken includes a general grounds clean-up and pruning, and morning tea will be provided. Mad Hatters Tea Party & Auction - Kingaroy
As a lead-up event to this afternoon's Tractor Tattoo (see entry further above), Jumping Ant Arts will be holding a "Mad Hatter's Teapot Tea Party & Auction Of Funky Teapots" at the Kingaroy Art Gallery at 128 Haly Street at 2:30pm this afternoon. The event is a fundraiser for women and children escaping domestic violence and the teapots that will go under the auctioneer's hammer today were all crafted at recent funky teapot workshops set up as part of Tractor Tattoo. Regional Food Network Seminars - Goomeri and Kingaroy
Growing The Burnett Inc will be holding two free seminars in Goomeri and Kingaroy today to look at the topic of building a regional food network to increase local food production and distribution. The seminars will be addressed by three guest speakers (an organic famer, a food distributor and an educator) and would be of interest to anyone involved in food production, share farming on small acreages, regional food hubs and training, employment or self-employment opportunities. The first seminar will be held at the Goomeri Hall Of Memory at 10:30am and the second will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 6:30pm. A light lunch or supper will be included with both seminars. Free buses will also be running to both seminars from Monto, Murgon and Blackbutt and picking up at all towns in between - but to secure a seat you'll need to make a reservation: either by phoning (0417) 756-528 or by email. Kragra Campdraft
The Kragra Campdraft will be held from 6:00am this morning until late in the afternoon at the Kragra campdrft grounds. Kragra is located off the Durong-Mundubbera Road via Allies Creek (almost at the junction of the old Wondai, Mundubbera and Chinchilla Shires) and the annual campdraft being held there today has attracted several hundred nominations. This year's Campdraft will feature Open, Novice, Maiden, Ladies, Juvenile, Junior and Beginners Drafts, and there'll also be pony club gymkhana events to provide a change of pace. Food and drink will be available in the grounds and a bar will be operating all day too. Admission to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators and everyone is most welcome! More details?
