South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival
The first main day of the annual Bloomin' Beautiful Blackbutt Festival will get underway at 8:00am this morning and continue on until late tonight (the second - and final - day of the Festival occurs tomorrow). As was the case last year, Bloomin' Beautiful will take place at several locations around Blackbutt and a free shuttle bus will be running all day between all the Festival's different venues to whisk visitors from one spot to the next:
  • • At the Blackbutt Showgrounds, there'll be a Rail Trail Outdoor And Garden Expo running from 8:00am to 4:00pm today featuring a wide variety of outdoor and garden supply exhibitors. There'll also be free rides on the nearby Rail Trail; an open workshop by the Timbertown Woodworkers; and demonstrations by horsemen (and women) on many things connected with horses, such as natural horsemanship, equine massage and talking saddles.
     
  • • At Nukku Nook, the Blackbutt Heritage & Tourism Association's "Train Track To Walking Track" exhibition will be open from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and the Wondai Brass Band will be giving a performance at 11:30am.
     
  • • At the Anglican Church, a quilting and country art and craft display will be on show from 9:00am to 3:00pm
     
  • • At the Blackbutt Uniting Church Hall, the Blackbutt Busy Needles group and the Blackbutt Country Crafters will be putting on craft and quilting displays from 10:00am to 3:00pm
     
  • • In Les Muller Park, the Stanwell Kids Corner will be running from 8:00am to 4:00pm with lots of activities for children including Dreamtime Reptiles shows; drumming and rhythm workshops by Rhythm Culture, a Cushion Kids Concert by members of the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra Chamber Players and much more including face painting and roving entertainment - all free!
     
  • • At the Blackbutt Memorial Hall, there'll be a Country Food Fair running from 8:00am to 4:00pm featuring displays of local produce, wine and food tastings along with High Teas at 10:00am, 12:00 noon and 2:00pm and Healthy Cooking demonstrations with chef Jason Ford at 11:00am and 1:00pm
     
  • • And at the Blackbutt Golf Club, the Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Golf Cup will be played on the greens from 10:00am to 12:30pm. This will be followed at 6:30pm in the evening with a community BBQ dinner, monster raffles and live entertainment from The Blues Excuse until late.
Relay For Life 2012 Celebrity Sports Dinner - Wondai
The South Burnett's Relay For Life 2012 Celebrity Sports Dinner will be held at Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 6:00pm onwards this evening (dinner begins at 6:30pm sharp). The Sports Dinner is an annual fundraiser for the region's Relay For Life effort and this year special guest speakers include Australian Olympic gold medal speed skater Steven Bradbury, former Australian cricketing fast bowler Jeff Thomson (pictured at right) and former WBF world heavyweight boxing champion "Aussie" Joe Bugner. Tickets to this semi-formal, licensed event - which include a pre-dinner drink and canapes on arrival, as well as a gourmet 2-course dinner with tea and coffee to follow - are $75 per head or $700 for a table of 10. Yarraman Markets - Yarraman
The Yarraman Progress Association's monthly Yarraman Markets will be held at Errol Munt Oval in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls and an under-cover play area for children. Centenary Photo Night - Kumbia
Here's something different! The Kumbia Centenary Committee will be holding a special Centenary Photo Night at the Kumbia Memorial Hall in Bell Street at 7:30pm this evening. The evening will be showing photos taken during the recent Kumbia Centenary Celebrations, as well as videos of the Street Parade and the Centenary Concert. Artist Talk - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be holding an Artist's Talk at 11:00am this morning with this month's featured artist Robyn Dower (whose latest exhibition opened at the Gallery last night). South Burnett Junior Soccer Grand Finals - Kingaroy
After last Saturday's thrilling 2nd Division, Womens Division and 1st Division Grand Finals, South Burnett Soccer will be wrapping up its 2012 season today with the Junior Soccer Grand Finals at Tom Alford Oval in Kingaroy (off Oliver Bond Street). The U10s/U11s will play off between 9:00am and 11:00am, with the In Stitches Embroidery Panthers vs Jet Electrical Redbacks at 9:00am; and Compak Earthmoving Redbacks vs Elliott's Electrical Panthers (also at 9:00am). They'll be followed at 10:00am by the Delbridge Murgon Pharmacy Bears vs Raine & Horne Redbacks; and Jet Electrical Redbacks vs Xpresso Mobile Coffee Panthers; and then the final match at 11:00am between the Tyrepower Kingaroy Redbacks and Boulderstone Construction Bears. In the U12s/13s, the Struddy's Sports Store Redbacks will play Selwood Construction Bears at 8:30am, followed by the Can Do Landscape Panthers vs Struddy's Sport Store Redbacks at 9:00am, and then the Selwood Construction Bears vs the Can Do Landscape Supplies Panthers at 9:30am. The Consolation Final bewtween the Hair Elegance Redbacks and KingAir Redbacks will be played at 10:15am, and then the Grand Final between the Auswide Silage Bears and Kingaroy Accounting & Tax Redbacks will be played at 11:15am. There'll also be four matches in the Cadets, with KAFR vs TBSQB at 9:00am; TBSQB vs FGAHP at 9:30am; FGAHP vs KAFR at 10:00am; and then the Grand Final between NER vs MMR at 10:45am. Spectators and supporters are most welcome!
Dance - Booie Hall
A dance will be held at Booie Hall from 8:00pm until around 12:00pm this evening. Music will be supplied by Mark's Music and there'll be the usual great supper, novelties and lucky door prize. 2012 Nanango Country Music Muster
The third - and main - day of the 2012 Nanango Country Music Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 9:00am this morning through until 11:00pm tonight. Today the action will focus on performances by the Muster's professional artists and they'll be playing non-stop on the main stage all day. This year's muster will feature a wide range of top-flight country music artists and food will be available in the Showgrounds all day. A licensed bar will be operating from 10:00am to 12:00pm as well. You can get in to attend any of today's activities for $25 per person or for $15 after 6:00pm if you just want to take in the evening show. Young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free. Camping fees at the Showgrounds range between $6 and $8.50 per night extra for unpowered or powered sites but a booking for any camp site during the Muster is essential. The Nanango Country Music Muster will conclude tomorrow with a Bush Breakfast and a Gospel Music Concert. Dark Green Urban Party - Kingaroy
With the weather finally starting to warm up at last, the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Haly and Glendon Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a Dark Green Urban Party in the beer garden tonight, emceed by the South Burnett's most popular host DJdirex. Seafood Buffet - Murgon

Markets In The Garden - Kumbia
Kumbia's new Markets In The Garden will be held in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These markets are now held on the second Saturday of each month and feature fresh fruit and vegies, jewellery, childerens furniture and toys, plants, hairdresser dolls and bears, bric-a-brac and collectables amongst many other things. South Burnett Junior Rugby League - Mundubbera
The South Burnett Junior Rugby League preliminary grand finals for the U12s, U14s and U16s will be played at the Mundubbera footy fields today. In the U12s, Chebourg will play Murgon at 11:15am. In the U14s, Cherbourg will play Central Burnett at 12:30pm. And in the U16s, Cherbourg will play Central Burnett at 1:45pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
Tansey Campdraft
The first day of the annual Tansey Campdraft will be held at the Tansey Showgrounds off the Burnett Highway at Tansey from early this morning until late this afternoon. A wide range of keen campdrafters will be contesting the event and admission is 100% free for spectators. The campdraft will conclude tomorrow. More details? The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together.
