South Burnett Regional Council will receive a grant of more than $790,000 from the State Government to design and build a new water reservoir to supply Kingaroy.
The Local Grants and Subsidies Program will provide 60 per cent of the $1.32 million required for the Mount Wooroolin Reservoir No 3.
“Councils are doing their best to serve their communities and facing increasingly tough financial decisions. Grants like these ensure vital work is carried out when and where it is needed,” Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said.
“The 2.8ML water supply reservoir will provide valuable storage capacity to facilitate development and services to the Kingaroy township for urban, rural and commercial water users.”
South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff said storage capacity had been identified as important for future development.
