South Burnett tourism promotion has taken a big step forward, thanks to a huge project completed recently via a Regional Arts Development Fund grant.
Local tourism organisation, Visit South Burnett (VSB), applied for the grant for the “Wouldn’t You Like To Be In My Shoes?” project on behalf of local artist Robyn Dower and videographer / photographer Charlie Spagalli.
For about 18 months, the pair travelled to events and localities across the region, from Blackbutt and the Bunya Mountains to Boondooma and Moffatdale
The result? Literally thousands of up-to-date tourism photographs for use in promotions as well as a 34-minute video which will be used to sell the region at tourism expos, trade fairs and other events.
Smaller sections of the video will also be clipped out for use as needed in other promotions.
Visit South Burnett officially launched the video at a small event in the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room last Thursday night.
It was then shown at a stall in the Kingaroy Mall on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Charlie said he and Robyn visited more than 100 different locations with his cameras, which included drones as well as still cameras.
“I was a fun project, a great project,” he said, “and Robyn was fun to work with.”
Robyn crafted a big pair of gym boots which were taken from location to location as a fun prop for people to pose with, along with smaller shoes which were worn by participants in many of the photos.
There were also a number of art and craft projects along the way which created decorated shoes and shoeprints which were on display in the Reception Room.
VSB president Jason Kinsella said the RADF grant was $15,000 but Charlie and Robyn had created something worth five times that value.
