The public notification period for the proposed workers’ camp near Kingaroy Airport opened on Friday (July 17).
The temporary accommodation facility, if approved, would house workers employed during the construction of the Tarong West wind farm near Ironpot.
Submissions, either for or against the development, must be lodged with the South Burnett Regional Council before August 7, 2026.

This temporary accommodation camp is stated for Tarong West wind farm but there is doubt that the wind farm will even go ahead. We are in the belief that this man camp is now a standalone project as RES or council won’t even consider moving it to the project location, saving our roads and RES the cost of transporting 400 plus workers through Kumbia twice a day.
So, it won’t be a temporary man camp. It will be sold off to Ausco or the like which will in turn bankrupt the motel industry in Kingaroy, Nanango.
(In our case, if we drop to 30% occupancy, we won’t be able to pay our rates and running costs at current prices) so prices would have to increase.
I don’t care if the camp is built at the airport or not but I can’t see any reason why it should not be. The idea that the camp is going to become some sort of future motel is crazy. The company wants to build a wind farm. They have built wind farms all over the place not motels.
