The State Government has appointed 50 new biosecurity officers across Queensland as part of an election promise to hire 100 new officers over four years.
A spokesperson said one of the new officers has taken up a position in Kingaroy.
The others are at Bamaga, Biloela, Boogan, Bowen, Cairns, Charleville, Charters Towers, Dalby, Emerald, Gatton, Gayndah, Garbutt, Mareeba, Nambour, Rockhampton, Roma, South Johnston, Toowoomba and Townsville.
Primary Industries Minister Tony Perrett said the LNP had made a commitment to bolster biosecurity defences in Queensland “and that is exactly what we are delivering“.
“When we improve our biosecurity, we also protect productivity which moves us closer to our goal of primary production output of $30 billion by 2030,” Minister Perrett said.
