Nanango Race Club has thrown open the gates to racegoers this Saturday to mark the return of thoroughbred racing to the Lee Park racetrack.
Not only is entry free but there are seven races to tempt punters to test their skills!
Free buses to the track will also be running: pick-up at noon at the Glendon Street bus stop in Kingaroy and 12:30pm at the Scott Car Park in Nanango.
There’ll also be free face-painting at the track for children.
Race 1 will jump at 12:55pm.
This is the first meeting to be organised by the new interim committee installed in February.
Saturday’s meeting has been dedicated to the memory of former trainer Kaye Hill, 75, who died at her home in Nanango in March.
Kaye was one of the first women to gain a licence to become a strapper – and then a trainer – in Queensland.
She trained a winner at Gatton, Prince of Diamonds, on February 28, just days before her death.
