Maidenwell’s annual Christmas celebrations are going to be a lot brighter this year, thanks to the support of a local business and two community groups.
Kidman Contracting, in conjunction with the Maidenwell Community Group and Maidenwell Music Mix Inc, have joined forces to “light up” the town.
“We plan to have the town alight before December 7 as this is the night when the local QCWA group hosts their annual Christmas Party for the children in the district,” Maidenwell Music Mix secretary Sharyn Hansen said.
“It will be a great social evening with a sausage sizzle and Santa will visit for sure.
“He always manages to have a gift for each of the Tanduringie State School students in attendance, and we owe a vote of thanks to the local CWA for continuing this tradition.
“It is always a wonderful festive event for the locals to catch up and relax before Christmas.
“The lighting display is seen as a worthwhile investment in the town as we can store all lights and decorations away for the year and bring them out again next year for a repeat performance!”
[UPDATED with correction]
The Christmas Tree has actually been held for over 95 years and only missed once or twice during World War 2. It is a closed event really as gifts are only for local Tanduringie School students and their younger siblings plus local pre-school children. It will be fabulous though to add some bright lights to our local parkland.
South Burnett Online has been roused on before for publicising Maidenwell’s “local residents only” Christmas event, but this year we were sent a media release!
Wonderful I’m so pleased. As a Maidenwell resident, good to see Christian fellowship here in Maidenwell.
