Gardeners obviously don’t mind a bit of rain … they turned up when it was more than a bit damp at Wondai’s Autumn Garden Expo earlier this year, and then came back in force at the weekend for the Spring extravaganza.
Despite the rain bucketing down on Saturday afternoon, it was difficult to find a car parking spot along the Bunya Highway.
And Spring Garden Expo organisers reported that four busloads of visitors had already come through the gates.
Admittedly, the Lions Pavilion was busier than usual – especially where Felicity Aitken was creating wearable art out of colourful blooms – and the covered tables near the pavilion entrance were also popular.
However, there were still hardy souls wandering around the stalls.
Fortunately, the rain began to clear later in the afternoon, and Sunday dawned as a perfect Spring day.
The Wondai Garden Expo Committee organises two big two-day events every year at the Wondai Sportsgrounds: the Autumn and the Spring Garden Expos.
They have already began planning for next year’s Spring event which will be held on April 19-20.
