Fourteen community organisations have shared $30,949 from the South Burnett Regional Council’s latest community grants round.

The not-for-profit groups were given their grants to help cover part of the cost of community events or for infrastructure upgrades.

The successful applicants were:

  • Blackbutt’s Avocado Festival – $3000 for the 2023 festival (approved at a previous Council meeting, already paid)
  • Wondai Lions Club – $2869 for Steaming Back To Wondai granite pier and plaque (approved at a previous Council meeting, already paid)
  • Blackbutt Singers – $2083 for the 2024 Celtic festival on St Patrick’s Day (March 17)
  • South Burnett Western Performance Club – $1000 for come-and-try days and clinics in 2024
  • South Burnett Orchid Society – $1000 for the 2024 South Burnett Orchid Show
  • Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club – $2500 for 2023 Community Christmas Festival
  • South Burnett Peace Of Mind – $3000 for 2023 White Dove Ball
  • Kumbia Memorial Hall – $1000 for 2023 Kumbia Christmas Carnival
  • Nanango Show Society – $3000 for 2023 Waterhole Rocks festival
  • Proston Community Kitchen – $1000 for community kitchen supplies
  • South Burnett Gem & Fossicking Club – $1500 for the 2024 Gem Show
  • Proston Show Society – $3000 for equipment and protection upgrades
  • Murgon Bowls Club – $3000 for a shed replacement
  • Kingaroy Rugby League Football Club – $2998 for an outdoor movie projector and speakers

The SBRC’s next round of community grants will open for applications on February 1, 2024, and close on February 28.
