Queensland will declare the Australian Capital Territory a COVID-19 hotspot from 1:00am on Saturday.

This follows the ACT’s announcement of a snap lockdown on Thursday.

A Queensland Health spokesperson said anyone who travels for the ACT and arrives in Queensland from 1:00am Saturday will go into mandatory hotel quarantine for 14 days.

Anyone who arrives in Queensland from the ACT between 5:00pm on Thursday (August 12) and 1:00am on Saturday will be required to complete 14 days of mandatory home quarantine.

Anyone who is currently in Queensland and who has been in the ACT since August 9 must begin home quarantine immediately, and remain in quarantine for 14 days since arriving in Queensland or since August 9, whichever is shorter.

They will also need to be tested for COVID-19 on days one, five and 12 after arrival from the ACT.

Queenslanders have been urged not to travel to the ACT at this time.
