A number of South Burnett events that were due to go ahead this weekend have been cancelled or postponed due to the south-east Queensland COVID lockdowns.

The Kingaroy Art Gallery’s August exhibition opening night, planned for Friday, has been cancelled.

The “Impressions 15” exhibition features fine art prints, drawing and artists’ books from the Impress Printmakers Studio and Gallery in Brisbane.

The opening night has been cancelled but the exhibition is going ahead and will be at the gallery until August 28.  Entry is free.

The popular Nanango Markets – held on the first Saturday of every month at Nanango Showgrounds – have also been cancelled.

The decision was announced by the Nanango Show Society on Thursday night.

Many of the regular stallholders come from areas that are still in lockdown.

The Inverlaw Hall Dance, due to be held on Saturday night, has also been cancelled.

The next dance at the hall is scheduled for September 4.

Joe’s Grand Hotel at Goomeri has had to cancel its live entertainment for Saturday night as the entertainer, Bob Mouat, will still be in lockdown.

The Murgon Markets – held on the second Sunday of every month in QEII Park in Lamb Street – have also been cancelled.

Nanango Theatre Company has confirmed that its NananGO PLAYfest mini-festival of short plays – due to run this Friday, Saturday and Sunday – has been cancelled.

Originally, the committee had hoped to reschedule the event for later in the year.

UPDATE: Also cancelled due to COVID restrictions have been:

  • Maidenwell Chainsaw Post Rip, due to be held in September 24-26, has been cancelled.
  • The Waterhole Rocks, due to be held at Nanango Showgrounds from October 14-17, has been cancelled.
  • Kumbia Brain Drain, due to be held in October, has been cancelled.
