2021 Nanango Miss Showgirl Bianca King-Kogut with Nanango Rural Ambassador Jasmine Firman after the judging on Saturday

March 25, 2021

Excitement is building for the 2021 Nanango Show, with the judging of the 2021 Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador last Saturday.

Hopefuls gathered at the Nanango Showgrounds to go up before a team of three judges.

The competitors were assessed on their knowledge, presentation and ability to communicate.

The lucky winners – who will be kept busy with show duties – are:

  • Miss Nanango Showgirl – Bianca King-Kogut
  • Miss Teen Showgirl – Stephanie Fleming
  • Miss Junior Showgirl – Indianna Browning
  • Nanango Rural Ambassador – Jasmine Firmin

Nanango businessman Rod Morgan, who was one of the trio of judges, said the decisions had been difficult.

“The margins were so narrow,” he said. “Sadly we had to make a decision.”

Show Society president Les Schloss said this was the first time the Showgirl competition had been judged on a Saturday morning with the entrants sashed in a small ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

In years gone by, there had been show ball and more recently, a dinner hosted by the Show Society.

“We have done it like this mainly because of the COVID business, but I think it has worked well,” he said.

The 112th Nanango Show will be held on Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10.

It’s being billed by organisers as a family event not to miss!

Show jumping and other equestrian events plus a dog show will be held on the Friday ahead of the feature Bull Ride from 7:00pm.

On Saturday, Queensland Governor His Excellency Paul de Jersey AC will be officially opening the show at 11:00am.

Other show highlights will include trotting, stud and prime cattle, goats, a reptile show, animal nursery and sideshow alley (of course!).

Saturday night will feature a fireworks display from 7:00pm, sponsored by Heritage Nanango, followed by live music by Mik Oberle from 8:00pm.

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for age / disability pensioners and children aged 12-17.

Children under 12 are free (with a paying adult).

As a special bonus, passes bought for the Friday events will also be valid for entry on Saturday (providing wristbands are kept and worn).
