There have now been 625 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Queensland, Queensland Health announced on Saturday.

This is up 70 on Friday’s total.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Darling Downs Health Region has risen by four to 21.

“These cases are split between Toowoomba, Kingaroy and Warwick,” a Darling Downs Health spokesperson said.

“The community can rest assured that contact tracing is under way, which means we are directly contacting people considered to be at risk.

“Please follow the recommended advice from us and our Federal counterparts in regards to social distancing, public gatherings, and general wellbeing.

“Critically, make sure you are practicing good hygiene and staying home if you’re sick.

“Washing your hands properly and often is the gold standard of health advice that can help prevent viruses from entering your body.”

In the Wide Bay Health Region, the number is 16 – the same as yesterday.

The areas with the largest number of confirmed cases continue to be Metro North (178), Metro South (152), Gold Coast (114) and Sunshine Coast (69).

At 6:30am, Saturday, the total number of positive cases across Australia was 3378 and 13 people have died.

There have been 212 new cases since 3:00pm on Friday.

More than 196,000 tests have been conducted across Australia.
