The Federal Government has topped up funding for local councils under the Roads to Recovery program.

Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said councils would receive the extra cash for repairs from 2019-20 to 2023-24:

  • South Burnett Regional Council – $1,644,465 extra, taking the five-year total to $8,222,327.
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $39,849 extra, taking the five-year total to $199,243.
  • Gympie Regional Council – $1,361,802 extra, taking the five-year total to $6,809,008.

An extra $1.1 billion has been added to the Roads to Recovery program across Australia.

The funding is distributed to councils, State and Territory governments responsible for local roads in the unincorporated areas (where there are no councils), Norfolk Island and the Indian Ocean Territories.
