South Burnett Regional Council will give $84,297 to 42 community groups in the latest round of its twice-yearly Community Grants Program.

Successful applications were announced by Communities portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter at Wednesday’s monthly council meeting.

Cr Potter said the final round of this year’s Community Grants Program had received 63 applications requesting a total of $145,905 when it closed on February 28.

Most applications were to help cover public liability insurance; to upgrade equipment or run training programs; or seeking sponsorship for community events or one-off projects.

Council approved 42 of the requests.

The successful applicants were:

Public Liability Insurance

  • Chahpingah Reserve Association – $1000
  • Durong Community Hall Committee – $1000
  • Ironpot Hall Association – $1000
  • Kumbia & District Memorial School Of The Arts – $1000

Equipment Upgrades and Sports Development Programs

  • Barambah Bowhunters – $1396 for gazebo shade shelters
  • Barambah United Soccer Club – $3000 for ‘Soccer For Schools’ program
  • Blackbutt District Community Organisation – $3000 for park and gardens development project
  • Bunya Valley Landcare – $1000 for nursery construction
  • Burrandowan Campdraft Association – $3000 for announcers and secretary trailer
  • Kingaroy Croquet Club – $3000 to assist with club relocation
  • Kingaroy Junior Cricket Club – $3000 for cricket pitch and nets
  • Kingaroy Netball Association – $3000 for player, coach and umpire development program
  • Kingaroy Uniting Church parish – $2404.25 for purchase of rainwater purification system
  • Kumbia and District Golf Club – $2000 for maintenance and new equipment purchases
  • Moffatdale State School Playgroup – $2500 for facilities upgrade
  • Murgon Men’s Shed – $3000 for carriage roof and security fence
  • Nanango & District Cricket Club – $3000 for South Burnett junior coaching clinic
  • Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft – $3000 for yard rebuild
  • Proston Men’s Shed – $2990 for outdoor movie screen equipment
  • Shooters Union Qld (South Burnett branch) – $1927 for playground upgrade
  • South Burnett Mountain Bike Club – Mountain Bike clinics $1600
  • Wondai AP&I Society – $1500 for Christmas lights replacements
  • Wondai & District Tennis Association – $350 to purchase nets
  • Wondai Neighbourhood Watch – $500 for community newsletter
