About 30 staff from Boehringer Ingelheim – a major producer of duboisia in the South Burnett – stepped away from their day jobs recently to volunteer their time and skills to renovate the Kingaroy Youth Park.

The Kingaroy Youth Park, adjacent to the skate park, is home to a range of Youth and Family Services including the South Burnett Domestic Violence Service and Family and Child Connect services operated by community not-for-profit group South Burnett CTC.

“Our company and local staff have a long history of working closely with the Kingaroy community,” Duboisia manager Des Crane said.

“We are very pleased to partner with South Burnett CTC and lend a hand to renovate such an important site in the community.

“South Burnett CTC provides essential services and support to families across our region, with every dollar donated to the organisation invested back to the community.

“We know how highly South Burnett CTC is valued by local residents and we are immensely proud to do our bit to help support their efforts.”

The Boehringer Ingelheim workers landscaped green areas, painted benches and structures as well undertaking a range of odd jobs to repair and spruce up the amenities.

The volunteer day is a corporate tradition at Boehringer Ingelheim.

In the past, employees have completed projects at the Winifred Fisher Indigenous Knowledge Centre at Cherbourg, SBCare in Kingaroy, and the Kingaroy RSPCA.
