The South Burnett Arthritis & Osteoporosis Support Group is promoting new Tai Chi For Health classes which will be starting next week in Kingaroy.

Tai Chi originated in ancient China but is now practiced throughout the world as an exercise for better health.

The Tai Chi for Health classes will aim to relieve pain and improve quality of life, relieve stress, sharpen concentration, and improve balance, posture and mobility.

The classes will begin on February 1 and then run on Thursdays at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street.

Support group spokeswoman June Kimlin said the Intermediate Group would run from 9:00am to 10:00am, followed by a Beginners’ Group from 10:15am to 11:15am.

Enrolments for the Beginners’ Group will be received on February 1 and 8 only (please allow 30 minutes before the commencement of the class to enrol).

An Advanced Group will be held on Fridays, beginning February 2, from 9:00am to 10:00am at SBcare (Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre).

“Everyone is welcome to come along and join our groups,” June said, “but please bring a bottle of water with you.”

The Tai Chi groups will be held every week except public or school holidays.

Cost is $3 for each attendance plus a $20 fee to Arthritis Queensland for insurance.
