Nanango & District Netball Association committee members Natasha Gerber, Terri Robinson, Lynn Smith, Tanya Glenny, outgoing President Sheena Lindholm, Jody Hatch and Julie Watt are determined to press on to achieve their ambitious $240,000 fundraising goal

November 21, 2017

The Nanango and District Netball Association will have a new president next year, as the club continues its quest to raise $240,000 to replace their netball courts.

Outgoing president Sheena Lindholm told the club’s recent Annual General Meeting she had to reluctantly stand down from the position because she was returning to work next year after a period of maternity leave.

However, she said the club had made great strides in the past year and was confident a new president and executive would maintain the forward momentum.

Delivering her President’s Report, Sheena noted the club had doubled its membership to 150 players in the past year and run many successful fundraising drives.

It had also restarted the Interdistrict Netball Carnival between Nanango and Kingaroy, and run many player development workshops.

“I’d like to underline that the work this netball club does is a community service. It makes a difference in all of our children’s lives, and provides an opportunity for them to be active and go on further in a netball career if they so wish.

“Our very own Australian Olympic Team member Teliqua Clancy is evidence of our members going on in sporting opportunity to the highest level.

“This association has an amazing capacity to bring people together from different towns/villages/communities and make everyone feel welcomed and valued. There are so few places where this happens.

“The committee that I’ve had the privilege to work with – Julie, Tash, Tanya, Lynn, Jody and Dee – have been nothing short of great.

“Although somewhat small in size, the achievements have been many and the laughs haven’t stopped. Our sponsors this year have also been very generous, and we thank them very much!

“I wish Georgina and the future executive of the club great success and look forward to helping out in a different role. Having a long past, netball has a big future in Nanango and in the South Burnett – it’s been a privilege to work with both as President.”

The Nanango and District Netball Association will continue to raise money for new courts and will apply for grant funding to replace the four existing courts, which are estimated to cost $240,000.
