The South Burnett Regional Council has imposed temporary water restrictions for the Kingaroy Town area due to a loss of power at the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant.

The emergency restrictions will apply from 4:00pm today (Friday, October 6).

A Council spokesperson said the water treatment plant had been without power for most of the day.

At 3:30pm, power was yet to be restored.

Council has requested that water use be restricted to internal (ie. inside the home or business) use and essential external use only, such as cleaning windscreens, pet enclosures or emergency purposes.

Watering of gardens and lawns is not permitted.

“When Ergon Energy has restored power to the site and the Water Treatment Plant can begin pumping water to Kingaroy, Council will remove these restrictions,” the spokesperson said.
