The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a roadshow across nine towns in September to keep residents “in the loop” about what’s happening in the region.

Residents will be able to get an update on the Council’s activities over the past 18 months as well as hear about projects Council is working on.

They will also receive information about the Council’s pre-qualified supplier list, its contractor management system and its recently released Economic Development Strategy which aims to create 3000 new jobs in the South Burnett over the next three years.

Business and community groups will be hosting the roadshow in each town. Residents will also be able to hear about the host organisation’s local activities at each event.

Mayor Keith Campbell said the purpose of the roadshows was to keep residents “in the loop”, not to receive complaints.

“We have plenty of avenues where people can ask for attention to their road, local park or any other part of Council’s operations they might be having a problem with,” the Mayor said.

“Instead, we want to use these meetings to update residents on how we’re tackling more long-term issues, and also give them an opportunity to hear from local groups about what they’ve been up to.”
