The South Burnett Regional Council will start footpath reconstruction works in Fitzroy Street, Nanango, next Monday (August 28).

The works will be on the western side of Fitzroy Street between Flemings Garage and Price Busters, and in front of the Fitzroy Hotel/Motel.

Council workers will remove the existing footpath and replace it with a new full width coloured concrete footpath.

A Council spokesperson said the aim of the project was to eliminate ongoing safety and maintenance concerns in the area.

During construction traffic control and signage will be in place to provide a safe work environment, and pedestrians will be diverted past the works.

Disruption is expected to be moderate.

There may be some changes in accessing Fitzroy Street businesses when the immediate works are in their location, and the Council’s Onsite Supervisor will discuss access with any local businesses that may be affected.

The project is expected to be completed in October, weather permitting.

Anyone with any concerns is invited to contact the Council’s Customer Service Centres on (07) 4189-9100.
