People who want to get their cowboy on should head to Wondai on Saturday, June 24.
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery will be hosting the first-ever Wondai Country Festival in Coronation Park, along the South Burnett Rail Trail and at Wondai Town Hall that day, and it promises to be a lot of fun for the whole family.
The Festival is being run in conjunction with the Wondai Country Markets in Coronation Park, allowing Saturday morning shoppers to browse their favourite stands for fresh vegies, crafts and plants.
There’ll also be live entertainment on the Percy Iszlaub Sound Shell, plus lots of food and drink stands.
Performers who’ll appear during the festival include Wondai and Kingaroy school dance groups, whipcrackers from St John’s Lutheran School, the Wondai Town Band, the Wondai State School Choir, the Wondai CWA Choir and the Proston Line Dancers.
Children can also have a fun time at the Festival with the Blue Gum Farm TV Show, face and body painting, Creative Arts In The Park, and a jumping castle.
Meanwhile, visitors with an athletic bent can take part in a Fun Run along the South Burnett Rail Trail, and cyclists can compete in a Fun Ride on the Rail Trail, too.
Registrations for both events will begin at 8:00am, and the 2km, 4km and 8km runs will start at 10:00am.
They’ll be followed by riders taking on 4km, 12km and 20km courses at 10:30am.
Pre-registrations for either event are just $10 for adults or $5 for under-12s (or $15 for adults if you leave things to the last minute) and they can be made online.
All registrations include a great sausage sizzle and home-made pumpkin soup.
At 3:00pm, the doors of Wondai Town Hall will open for the Slim Dusty tribute show “Dustier Than Ever”.
Tickets for this 90-minute show are $5 for youngsters aged 16-12 or $15 for 13-year-olds and up, and include a great afternoon tea.
They can be booked at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, Kingaroy Office Central or the Murgon Visitor Information Centre, or by phoning (07) 4168-5926.
