The Wondai Regional Art Gallery will be hosting a free workshop for children aged from 6 to 11 on Sunday, March 19.

The workshop is being brought to the South Burnett by the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) at Southbank in Brisbane, thanks to the Wondai Gallery’s special status as a GOMA touring venue.

“The Gabori Sisters: Gathering by the Sea on Tour” will introduce youngsters to Kaiadilt artists, Elsie, Dorothy and Amanada Gabori, and their homeland of Bentinck Island in Queensland’s Gulf of Carpentaria.

Through specially designed, hands-on making and multimedia activities, children will be invited to consider the unique and important relationship the Kaiadilt people share with the sea.

They’ll also be able to discover the creatures that inhabit the waters around Bentinck Island.

The workshop will be held in “The Studio” at the Gallery and will run from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

All materials and equipment will be provided, and parents are encouraged to attend.

A free morning tea will also be provided.

However places at the workshop are limited so bookings are essential.

They can be made by phoning the Wondai Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926 with your children’s names, ages and a contact number.
